Terms and Conditions for Course Enrollment

1. Introduction
Welcome to LilacBush Academic English ("LilacBush," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our website and enrollment in our courses. By accessing our website or enrolling in our courses, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
LilacBush Academic English is operated by Nataliia Akutina, a sole entrepreneur registered in Ukraine (Taxpayer Identification Number provided upon invoicing).
By enrolling in LilacBush’s courses, you agree to adhere to our terms, ensuring commitment to the learning process. Students are expected to complete all assignments, participate actively in lessons, and respect fellow learners and instructors. Any form of academic dishonesty, including plagiarism, will result in disciplinary action. We strive to create a supportive learning environment that fosters growth and respect. Your cooperation is essential in upholding the integrity of our academic community.
2. Definitions
- "Student" refers to the individual enrolled in a LilacBush course.
- "Parent/Guardian" refers to the legal parent or guardian of a minor Student.
- "Course" refers to any educational program offered by LilacBush Academic English.
- "Platform" refers to Lessonspace (for live lessons) and Canvas (for materials and assignments)
3. Eligibility and Enrollment
3.1 Age Requirements
Our courses are designed for teenagers aged 15+ years old and young adults. Enrollment eligibility depends on the age of majority in the Student's country of residence:
- For minors: Students who have not reached the age of majority in their country of residence must have written consent from a Parent/Guardian to enroll in our courses.
- For young adults: Students who have reached the age of majority in their country of residence enroll independently.
3.2 Enrollment Process
1. Complete and submit the application form on our website
2. Participate in a 15-minute introductory call (scheduled after application review)
3. Receive and pay the invoice issued via Payoneer or PayPal
4. Enrollment is confirmed upon receipt of payment
3.3 Parental Consent for Minors
For Students who are minors in their country of residence:
- Written parental/guardian consent is required before enrollment
- The consenting Parent/Guardian will receive access to the Student's account, progress, materials, and feedback
- The Parent/Guardian will be included in course communications regarding their child's participation
4. Payment Terms
4.1 Payment Options
Payment options vary by course type and will be specified in the course description at the time of enrollment. Most courses offer the following payment structures:
1. Full Payment: One complete payment before the course begins
2. Installment Plan: Two equal payments
- First payment: Due before the course begins by the due date specified in the invoice
- Second payment: Due at the beginning of Week 4 (before Lesson 4) by the due date specified in the invoice
4.2 Payment Methods
Payment is processed through:
- Payoneer
- PayPal
4.3 Currency
All prices are listed in USD and must be paid in the same currency.
4.4 Late Payment
Failure to submit the second installment payment by the due date may result in suspension of access to course materials and live lessons until payment is received.
4.5 Payment Restrictions and Sanctions Compliance
Due to international financial sanctions and Ukrainian banking regulations, we may be unable to accept payments from certain countries or may experience delays in payment processing for certain jurisdictions.
- Sanctioned Countries: We cannot accept payments from countries subject to international financial sanctions or Ukrainian banking restrictions.
- Restricted Countries: Payments from certain countries may require additional verification and processing time as mandated by our financial institutions.
- Applicant Responsibility: By submitting an application, you confirm that you are not located in a country subject to sanctions that would prohibit payment processing.
If your country of residence is subject to payment restrictions, we will inform you during the application review process before scheduling an introductory call. Unfortunately, we cannot proceed with enrollment if payment cannot be processed in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
5. Course Delivery
5.1 Course Format
Courses are delivered online through:
- Lessonspace: Live interactive lessons
- Canvas: Course materials, homework submissions, and instructor feedback
5.2 Class Size
Class size varies by course type and will be specified in the course description at the time of enrollment. Most courses have a maximum of 4 students to ensure personalized attention and interaction, though some specialized courses may accommodate larger or smaller groups as appropriate to the course content and learning objectives.
5.3 Course Schedule
Course schedules are confirmed before enrollment. Students are expected to attend all scheduled live lessons.
5.4 Attendance and Participation
- Students must notify the instructor via WhatsApp or email if they will be late or unable to attend a session
- Missed lessons are not individually rescheduled; students receive access to materials and assignments covered
- Consistent absence may result in course termination without refund
6. Communication
6.1 Current Policy
By enrolling in a course, Students (and Parents/Guardians of minors) consent to being added to a dedicated WhatsApp group for their course cohort. This group is used for:
- Course announcements
- Schedule reminders
- General course-related communication within a group
Students (and Parents/Guardians of minors) may opt out of the WhatsApp group. Course announcements, schedule reminders, and general course-related communication will be sent by email.
6.2 Private Communication
Students and parents/guardians may contact the instructor privately via WhatsApp for individual concerns, scheduling issues, or cancellations.
7. Course Materials and Intellectual Property
7.1 Ownership
All course materials, including but not limited to lesson content, workbooks, exercises, and assessments, are the intellectual property of LilacBush Academic English and are protected by copyright law.
7.2 Permitted Use
Students may:
- Access and download materials for personal educational use during the course
- Retain downloaded materials for personal reference after course completion
7.3 Prohibited Use
Students and parents/guardians may not:
- Share, distribute, or reproduce course materials for commercial purposes
- Share login credentials with others - Record live lessons without explicit written permission
8. Student Conduct and Academic Expectations
8.1 General Conduct
Students are expected to:
- Treat instructors and fellow students with respect
- Participate honestly in assignments and assessments
- Comply with platform usage guidelines (Lessonspace and Canvas)
8.2 Class Participation
Students are expected to:
- Attend all scheduled live lessons
- Participate actively in class discussions and activities
- Come prepared having completed any pre-class assignments
Consistent non-participation or absence may result in course termination without refund.
8.3 Assignment Completion and Submission
Students are expected to:
- Complete all required assignments diligently and to the best of their ability
- Submit assignments by the specified deadlines
- Respond to instructor feedback in a timely manner
Access to course materials: LilacBush may withhold access to new course materials until previous required assignments have been submitted. This ensures students progress through the course systematically and get maximum benefit from the curriculum.
8.4 Course-Specific Requirements
Each course may have additional specific requirements regarding:
- Assignment deadlines and formats
- Participation expectations
- Assessment criteria
- Communication protocols
These course-specific requirements will be provided to students before the course begins and are considered part of these Terms and Conditions.
8.5 Consequences of Non-Compliance
LilacBush reserves the right to remove any Student who:
- Engages in disruptive, disrespectful, or dishonest behavior
- Consistently fails to participate in live lessons without valid reason
- Repeatedly fails to submit required assignments
- Violates course-specific requirements
Removal for non-compliance will result in no refund of course fees paid.
9. Data Storage and Account Access
9.1 Canvas Account
Student work is stored on Canvas during the course period. Students are responsible for downloading their work within a month after course completion, as access may be removed after the course ends.
9.2 Account Termination
Canvas accounts may be deactivated 30 days after course completion. Students should download all materials and work before this date.
10. Refund and Cancellation Policy

Summary:
- Full refund if cancelled before Lesson 3 begins
- No refund if cancelled after Lesson 3 begins
11. Limitation of Liability
We provides educational services and makes no guarantees regarding:
- Specific academic outcomes or grades
- University admission results
- English proficiency test scores
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LilacBush shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from course enrollment or participation.
12. Technical Requirements and Platform Access
12.1 Student Responsibility
Students are responsible for:
- Maintaining reliable internet connection
- Ensuring compatible devices for Lessonspace and Canvas
- Troubleshooting basic technical issues
12.2 Platform Interruptions
LilacBush is not responsible for technical issues caused by third-party platforms (Lessonspace, Canvas) but will make reasonable efforts to reschedule affected lessons.
13. Changes to These Terms and Conditions
LilacBush reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on our website with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued enrollment after changes constitutes acceptance of modified terms.
14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Ukraine. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in accordance with Ukrainian law.

16. Waiver
Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms and Conditions shall not be deemed a waiver of such provision or our right to enforce it in the future. Any waiver of a breach of these Terms must be in writing and signed by LilacBush to be effective.
By enrolling in a LilacBush course, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
